PSSC MEETING

The Parent School Support Committee (PSSC) is an advisory body at each school. It is made up of 6 to12 parents, guardians and community members who work in an encouraging, advisory, and collaborative way with the school Principal and staff to make improvements and help ensure a positive learning and working environment. The PSSC is established for our school each September. A formal election will be held to fill any vacant positions. This valuable team meets six times yearly (September, October, November, February, April, and May) for an evening meeting of less than 90 minutes. This is a great opportunity for families who are not able to volunteer during the school day due to work or other commitments.

This important group provides advice to the Principal on:

  • school policies
  • partnerships within the community
  • maintaining a positive learning environment
  • supporting the language and culture of the school
  • planning for school improvement.

Details about the role of the PSSC are outlined in Section 32 of the New Brunswick Education Act.

Outside of the scope of the PSSC are staff issues, day-to-day operations, fundraising and individual student academic or behavior issues.
